OVERVIEW
The shell jacket was invented in Austria and was used by various militaries in Europe and the US. Adopted by the Confederacy in 1861, it's waist length design was more convenient for horseback riding than a long-tailed overcoat. This version is made from traditional top quality jean wool and is an authentic representation of the era. Perfect for any re-enactor, it has wood buttons and a 100% cotton lining with an inside pocket. Available in sizes 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48. Matching Vest and Pants available. Longer Sack Coat also available.
