OVERVIEW
The classic British flintlock musket was used by both sides during the American Revolutionary War. The basic smooth bore musket saw service for over one hundred years. This long land pattern was the most common rifle owned by male citizens of the thirteen American colonies, who were required by law to have arms and ammunition at the ready for militia duty. Compared to modern firearms, it wasn’t terribly accurate (neither were most smooth bore rifles of the era). Tests in 1811 London resulted in a 53% success rate when fired at a shield shaped target 100 yards away.
This is an excellent replica of the workhorse Brown Bess, with realistic weight and full length wood stock and foregrip. It features a brass trigger guard and butt and has a moving trigger and hammer. Please note: the bayonet does not lock in place.
